Nollywood Convention 2008 Emphasizes Improving Skills

by Ladybrille.com on August 28, 2008 No Comment

nollywood-1Train to improve on skills,” is the advice Nollywood A-list actress Joke Silva dispensed to fellow colleagues at the 2008 Nollywood Foundation Convention 2008 [NFC] in Hollywood. “Universities in Nigeria now offer courses in Theater which provides all the required skills for the industry,” added Silva.
Her advice was just a slice of the many solutions suggested in the continued advancement of the Nollywood industry at the Nollywood Foundation Convention, 2008, a three day event held at the swanky Sofitel Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Nollywood and Hollywood’s insiders like Emeka Mba, Director General of the National Film & Video Censors Board, Rob Aft, film industry consultant, Tracey Bing from Badabing Productions, Clay Epstein, the Vice President of Sales and Acquisitions for The Little Film Company, Nollywood A-list Actor Zack Orji, Steven Friedlander, Executive Vice President, Distribution for Warner Independent Pictures and Nigerian legislators Senator Ayogu Eze of Enugu State and Honorable Dino Malaye, member of the House of Representatives, were some of the personalities in attendance.

“I think it’s the most viable commercial venture anyone should invest in,” said Honorable Malaye in speaking with Ladybrille about getting potential investors to invest in Nollywood. “You’re not only going to reap your dividend but you will be using it as a vehicle/vessel of employment, entertainment [and] developmental changes. More importantly, it’s going to be an instrument for growing a new Africa.”
