2009 MTV Africa Music Award (MAMAs) Winners!
2009 MAMA Awards is reportedly “bananas” as Wyclef and 2Face bring down “da house.” Group performances on stage so far: Wyclef with Akon, 2face, HHP and Sound Sultan, Lira, Pype & MI, Wyclef,Nameless & Samini Mohits Pending. Wyclef also pays tribute and indtroduces the 2009 MAMAs Hip-hop Legend Awards which goes to the late Reggae Icon Lucky Dube.
The shortlist of winners as the event is happening right this moment includes:
1. Best Listener’s Choice Awards, Kenya’s Nameless
2. Best New Act, Nigeria’s M.I.
3. Best Group, Nigeria’s P.Square
4. Best Female, Kenya’s Amani
5. Best Performer, Ghana’s Samini
6. Best Male, Kenya’s Nameless
7. Best R&B Act, 2Face 2Face
8. Best Alternative, South Africa’s Zebra & Giraffee
9. Best Video, South Africa’s HHP
10. Best Hip-Hop Act, Nigeria’s M.I. (beats out Jay-Z and Kanye West)
11. Artist of the Year, Nigeria’s D’Banj
