Eunice Johnson, Ebony Fashion Fair Maven Dead at 93

Eunice Johnson, widow of Ebony magazine founder John Johnson and fashion entrepreneur operating numerous fashion businesses including the Ebony Fashion Fair died at her Chicago home this past Sunday at age 93. The cause of death as explained by Wendy Parks, spokeswoman for Johnson Publishing Company Inc., was renal(kidney) failure.

Mrs. Johnson was committed to showcasing the beauty of African-Americans worldwide and developing and creating products for black women. She was director and producer of the highly exciting colorful Ebony Fashion Fair for over thirty years, a co-developer of the popular makeup and skin-care line Fashion Fair Cosmetics and was also secretary and treasurer for Johnson Publising Inc., publishers of JET and Ebony Magazines. “Mrs. Johnson has always been a woman ahead of her time,” said Johnson Publishing Inc. “Mrs. Johnson made a tremendous impact on the fashion industry, showcasing the best in style on African-American models of various shapes, sizes and skin tones.”
